first love

she doesn't mean much today except
there remains a meaning from years ago

memory of first love that from
unrequited distance wears a gentle glow

i cannot grudge you both
a sweet fragment of the other's soul

  1. cool to see you over at dVerse Padmavani...and with a beautiful poem, written with a tender pen..the gentle glow and the sweet fragments of the other's soul...i still carry some precious memories of first love around..

  2. smiles. no i think you wove it well for us...seeing ones first love in the arms of another...i remember mine...great to see you at dverse!

  3. I see this more as a generous woman observing her mate involved in a moment of sweet nostalgia and not begrudging. Whichever way this was meant, it's indeed a tender and loving poem.

  4. Thank you for dropping by Claudia, Brian, Joy! Joy, you are spot on about the idea :)

  5. Lovely and very generously written. This shows us a great deal about who you are Padmavani; as always, precious!

  6. Thank you for joining Poets United. We look forward to visiting your blog and reading poetry. We also look forward to seeing you in our community.
