there is no truth

truth dies
the moment it is conceived

there is no truth
in pictures
in words
in thoughts
in deed

truth is cleaved
into countless truths
by eye
by words
by mind
by action

there is no truth
truer than mine

  1. Truth is all around us if we really see....but, we see what we want to see and we are all emotional creatures...so we tend to go overboard with our emotions...and maybe cannot open our eyes to truth.

  2. This small compact piece is powerful Padmavani. It would appear you specialise in this type of condensed brilliance, that like a seed has within it the potential for mighty fruit. It's all in there just waiting to be unleashed into the human heart, each one with its own complexities and experience. Wonderful.

  3. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts Janu. Of course there is truth, but the moment you look at it.. what you see is what you perceive. And it not just emotion, it is knowledge, experience, intuition, belief system, principles, culture, possibly genetics, and so much more. You see all of us carry an incredible baggage from the moment we are conceived, that really we can only see try and fathom out what the truth is..if we care. And even then we will arrive only our derivation of the truth. And you will find your twin sibling will not agree with your version. That is what this piece of writing is about. Longish explanation:)

  5. Succinct and yet very powerful, Padma. Yes, everything comes to us through our filters.

  6. I love the line -- and underlying metaphor -- 'truth cleaved into countless truths' -- which seems encompass the heart of the poem. And yet, for some reason, I keep hearing it as 'truth cleaves into countless truths' . . .

  10. Wonderful poem. I think as well that among us humans there are many truths, depending on perspectives. We each think we know the truth, but do we? We each see with different eyes, hear with different ears. Only God knows for sure what really IS true.

  12. I like the clever play on words of truth.. as you say, it depends on where you are standing from... a paradigm as some would say.

  13. nice...and in many ways we each have our own true as perceived by our eyes...truth becomes subjective that way...there are some over arching truths though...
