first love

she doesn't mean much today except
there remains a meaning from years ago

memory of first love that from
unrequited distance wears a gentle glow

i cannot grudge you both
a sweet fragment of the other's soul

  3. I see this more as a generous woman observing her mate involved in a moment of sweet nostalgia and not begrudging. Whichever way this was meant, it's indeed a tender and loving poem.
